Health Insurance Policies Fit to Your Financial Needs
Policies, policies everywhere! But not enough information to know which plan is the best for you! Healthcare policies can seem overwhelming, but all the policies fall into one of two types: Limited Benefit or Major Medical.
While Limited Benefit plans vary, most will have you choose a coverage amount per day per hospital stay. All other benefits they pay are calculated from the base amount, e.g. 3 times the daily benefit for this or that. A typical policy might cost you only a few dollars a day but pay out less than $10,000 in benefits if you are hospitalized. The benefit does not increase over time as the cost of healthcare increase, so the big bill comes back to you. Limited Benefit policies are cheaper in the short term, but coverage is limited if you face a major problem.
Major medical plans have you pay a deductible, maybe some co-insurance then the plan pays the rest. Most plans have lifetime maximums but no specific limits per day or service. Since the benefit increases as the cost of healthcare increases, they have more expenses to cover. Premiums on Major Medical plans are higher, but their coverage is more extensive.
